I've always loved it, actually.  The colors :: Chef's Kiss ::

I uncovered some really fabulous strands recently, and they have me completely smitten all over again. The colors, the combinations, the way one piece can look completely different from another. Tourmaline has so much personality.

And of course, being a pink, green kinda girl, those are the Tourmalines that immediately catch my eye.

But then there’s Rainbow Tourmaline.

And that’s where things get really fun.

Rainbow Tourmaline is a color and texture lover’s dream. It can bring together pink, green, yellow, dusty lavenders and rich, earthy tones, and a dash of black, all in the same strand. The combinations are completely natural, so every strand has its own personality.

And for me, that’s the magic of it. I’m a pink and green girl through and through, so finding strands that bring those colors together with other unexpected shades is pretty irresistible.

It’s also one of those gemstones that makes you want to keep looking. You notice one color, then another, and then suddenly you’re seeing colors you didn’t notice the first time.

That’s what I love about it. It isn’t trying to be perfectly matched. It’s beautiful because it isn’t matchy, matchy. 

Rainbow Tourmaline: Joy + Balance

Rainbow Tourmaline brings together the qualities associated with several Tourmaline colors, making it a particularly interesting stone from a crystal symbolism perspective.

It is traditionally associated with joy, balance, creativity, emotional healing and positive energy. Because of its many colors, I think of it as a gemstone for embracing the whole picture rather than focusing on just one thing.

Basically, it's the Tourmaline equivalent of ordering the sampler platter.

Pink Tourmaline: Love + Emotional Healing

Now we're talking.

Pink Tourmaline is traditionally associated with love, compassion, emotional healing and gentle, nurturing energy.

I love that Pink Tourmaline doesn't have to be sugary sweet. Depending on the shade, it can be soft and delicate or rich and vibrant.

Symbolically, it is often connected with the heart and with opening yourself to love, compassion and emotional renewal.

And yes, the fact that it's pink doesn't hurt.

Green Tourmaline: Growth + Abundance

Green Tourmaline is my other weakness.

Its traditional symbolism centers around growth, vitality, abundance, balance and connection with nature. It is often considered an especially heart centered variety of Tourmaline, with a beautiful association with renewal and moving forward.

I think that makes Green Tourmaline particularly appealing when you're entering a new chapter or simply want a reminder to keep growing.

And the color?

Absolutely gorgeous.

Give me a rich green Tourmaline next to pink Tourmaline and I'm done.

Black Tourmaline: Protection + Grounding

Then there is Black Tourmaline, which has a completely different personality.

Black Tourmaline is best known for its traditional associations with protection, grounding, stability and clearing unwanted energy.

It is one of those stones people often reach for when they want something that feels protective and grounding, especially during stressful or unsettled times.

And aesthetically, I love the contrast it brings to colorful gemstones. Black Tourmaline can anchor a bracelet beautifully without competing with the other stones.

It's the little black dress of the Tourmaline family.

Why Tourmaline Has Me Hooked

Maybe that's why I keep coming back to Tourmaline.

There isn't just one version of it.

You've got Rainbow for joy and color, Pink for love and emotional healing, Green for growth and abundance, and Black for grounding and protection.

Different colors. Different personalities. Same gemstone family.

And then there are all the other Tourmaline colors and combinations I haven't even gotten into.

Which is probably why I shouldn't have gone looking through those new strands in the first place.

Because now I want to make bracelets with all of them.
